European Journal of Wildlife Research focuses on all aspects of wildlife biology. Main areas are: wildlife ecology, diseases, toxicology, conservation, management, and the sustainable use of natural resources. Recent topics range from rabbit population trends in northeastern Spain, to fighting behaviour in territorial male roe deer, to a study of the first known Cuvier's beaked whales found in the Croatian region of the Adriatic, and more. Also included is discussion of socio-cultural aspects of human-wildlife relationships and the history and sociology of hunting. The journal accepts four types of papers: Reviews, Original Papers, Short Communications, and Technical Notes. European Journal of Wood and Wood Products reports on results from research and development for wood and wood products and their biological, chemical, physical as well as mechanical and technological properties, processing and uses. Subjects range from roundwood to wood based products, composite materials and timber constructions, with related jointing techniques. Moreover, it deals with wood as a chemical raw material and source of energy as well as with inter-disciplinary aspects of life-cycle-assessment and international markets. European Journal of Wood and Wood Products aims at furthering international scientific communication and technology transfer from research into practice.

The European Journal on Criminal Policy and Research monitors crime trends in today’s enlarged Europe and beyond. The focus of its peer-reviewed coverage is on understanding crime in different geographical and socio-economic contexts, on presenting innovative crime prevention policies and practices, and on following legislative and institutional change. Discussion includes the trade-off between security and rights and ways to optimize the effectiveness of criminal justice systems with respect to human and civil rights. Recognizing that criminal justice systems are not the only method for dealing with crime, the journal also devotes attention to alternative policies and practices. Its four annual issues include two thematic issues and two that are open to various contributions.

European Orthopaedics and Traumatology is the official publication of EFORT, the umbrella organization of the European national orthopaedic associations. The journal is intended to function as a communications channel connecting the member societies to one another and to the organisation. Each issue will present a collection of papers centering on a specific main topic, followed by comments and a consensus discussion and summary. The journal will publish not only peer-reviewed original papers, but also those from industry reporting on research and development. The articles chosen for publication in the journal represent the gold standard in diagnostic and treatment in orthopaedics. Article types:

a) Minireview: A typically 10-15 pages contribution, where approximately half of the material is in form of representative mini-review of the entire subtopic/subfield, followed by, approximately of the same length, a short review of own past and present work, coherently summarized and explained in the broader context of the first part.

b) Tutorial Review: A 15+ pages tutorial review (lecture) on a broader topic that adds significantly more introductory and background material to make this reasonably self-contained reading f

The European Transport Research Review – An Open Access Journal (ETRR) is an online scientific platform aiming at disseminating research results in the field of transport. The main scope and mission of the Journal is to provide a forum for the publication of high quality scientific papers in the field of transport in general, and a dissemination medium for new ideas and developments that originate in, or are of interest to, the European transport research community. The Journal was established by the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI).

Journal’s concept and primary characteristics are: first, it is the open access configuration that makes it easily and widely available through the internet to all readers with a minimum of constraints and costs: second, it provides focus on issues of special interest to European transport research, its funding bodies and supervising organisations: third, it is clearly oriented towards both researchers and practitioners.The Journal considers primarily papers, on both theoretical as well as applied research, whose excellence and content represent an important contribution to transport research in Europe. Papers dealing with theoretical or applied research outside Europe are also encouraged to be submitted for publication, as long as their results are of relevance to European transport concerns, or can contribute to scientific knowledge or best practice transfer between researchers in Europe and their counterparts in other continents.Contributors are advised to submit papers that fit at least in one of the areas of interest identified by the Journal. However, the Editorial Board can also consider papers that are not directly related to these areas but are considered of interest or of particular concern to the aims and goals of the Journal. New Focus for our Journal The relationship between Ecology and Evolution is both intimate and fundamental, yet the field of Evolutionary Ecology is not a strong or obvious focus of research activity. Habitats and climate have been changing at various temporal and spatial scales since the origin of life. Although this variation can have a profound effect on both ecological and evolutionary processes, the interplay between ecology and evolution remains comparatively neglected. Most researchers in evolution are more concerned with the pattern of evolution (phylogeny) and its genetic and developmental correlates than with the ecological causes of evolution. Similarly, ecologists often ignore the evolutionary implications of population and community processes, at least partially because it is difficult enough working out ecological processes when one assumes (implicitly) that all individuals are identical over short time scales.
