The Journal of Vegetation Science publishes papers on all aspects of vegetation science, with particular emphasis on papers that develop new concepts or methods, test theory, identify general patterns, or that are otherwise likely to interest a broad readership. Papers may focus on any aspect of vegetation science, e.g. community structure (including community assembly and plant functional types), biodiversity (including species richness and composition), spatial patterns (including plant geography and landscape ecology), temporal changes (including demography, community dynamics and palaeoecology) and processes (including ecophysiology), provided the focus is on increasing our understanding of plant communities. The Journal publishes papers on the ecology of a single species only if it plays a key role in structuring plant communities. Papers that apply ecological concepts, theories and methods to the vegetation management and papers on vegetation survey can be directed to our associate journal, Applied Vegetation Science.

The Journal of Wood Science provides an international forum for the exchange of knowledge and the discussion of current issues in wood and wood utilization. It publishes original articles on basic and applied research dealing with the science, technology, and engineering of wood, wood components, wood and wood-based products, and wood constructions. Articles concerned with pulp and paper, fiber resources from non-woody plants, wood-inhabiting insects and fungi, wood biomass, and environmental and ecological issues in forest products are also included. The journal publishes review articles on selected topics concerning wood science and related fields. This is the official journal of the Japan Wood Research Society.

The journal provides an international forum for papers on systematic zoology and evolutionary research. The journal offers a competent survey of the diversity of evolutionary research and related fields. Emphasis is on the synthesis of scientific results from anatomy, morphology, physiology, ethology, general genetics, population genetics and molecular biology. The journal contains only original articles published in English, German or French with abstracts in at least two languages. Fields of interest: General and systematic zoology, evolutionary biology.

The Journal of Zoology publishes high-quality research papers that are original and are of broad interest. The Editors seek studies that are hypothesis-driven and interdisciplinary in nature. Papers on animal behaviour, ecology, physiology, anatomy, developmental biology, evolution, systematics, genetics and genomics will be considered; research that explores the interface between these disciplines is strongly encouraged. Studies dealing with geographically and/or taxonomically restricted topics should test general hypotheses, describe novel findings or have broad implications. The Journal of Zoology aims to maintain an effective but fair peer-review process that recognises research quality as a combination of the relevance, approach and execution of a research study. The journal also welcomes reviews and forum papers on current issues, particularly where topics of a complex or poorly understood field are synthesized. Prospective authors should submit a 300-word abstract, a list of up to 20 key references, and a cover letter (two pages maximum) outlining what will be discussed in the article. Proposals for reviews should be submitted to journalofzoology@zsl.org. The submission of completed review manuscripts without prior consultation with the Editor is discouraged. The Journal of Zoology is a member of and subscribes to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics. Papers that report experimental work must comply with the standards laid down by British national or equivalent legislation and the research permit number must be stated in the acknowledgments section of your manuscript.

Entomologia Generalis is an international journal of general and applied entomology.It publishes papers on experimental, comparative and descriptive problems and studies in all fields of research on insects and other terrestrial arthropods. It aims to continually supply new information on the results of recent and current studies and promising theories in this field of science, relating simultaneously to various fields or closely connecting them.Entomologia Generalis emphasizes the publication of original research papers (6–20 printed pages). Furthermore, reviews of entomological problems (6–20 printed pages) are invited, as are summaries of high standard research results. Furthermore, short communications are published about new findings, concepts, observations etc, as well as exchanges of views and methods (4–10 printed pages). Finally, preview abstracts are presented of work which is being completed, but not yet ready for publication in a more extensive form (Synopses of 1–6 printed pages). .
