Dendrochronologia is an international scholarly journal in tree-ring research. It publishes high-quality original research dealing with growth rings of woody plants and the application of tree-ring studies to problems in a wide variety of fields including, but not limited to, archaeology, botany, climatology, ecology, forestry, geology and hydrology. Original research articles, reviews, communications, technical notes and personal notes are considered for publication.

The journal Der Zoologische Garten has been founded in 1859 (since 1929 published as as "new series").

Der Zoologische Garten ist eine wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift, die allen die Tiergärtnerei (im weitesten Sinne) betreffenden Originalarbeiten offensteht. Neben größeren Abhandlungen werden "Kleinere Mitteilungen", "Nachrichten aus Zoologischen Gärten" u. dgl. aufgenommen.

Founded in 1857 as Berliner Entomologische Zeitschrift, the journal Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift is an international journal of systematic entomology. It publishes original research papers in English on the systematics, taxonomy, phylogeny, comparative morphology, and biogeography of insects. Other arthropods are also considered where of relevance to the biology of insects. The geographical scope of the journal is worldwide. Priority is given to revisional work and comprehensive studies of phylogenetic, biological or zoogeographical relevance. Diatom Research is the journal of the International Society for Diatom Research. The journal is published quarterly, in March, June, September and December, and welcomes manuscripts on any aspect of diatom biology. In addition to full-length papers, short notes and reviews of recent literature are published which need not contain all the sections required for full-length papers; we see these as being necessary to record information which is of interest but which cannot be followed up in detail. Discursive 8220;Opinion8221; papers are encouraged which would not necessarily follow the normal lay-out. If extremely long papers are to be offered, the author(s) should contact the editors first to discuss any problems. Book reviews, obituaries and meeting reports can be published. All papers will be subject to critical review by the editors and referees, as appropriate to their content. Papers will be accepted in English only.

The origin and early evolution of life is an inseparable part of the discipline of Astrobiology. The journal Origins of Life and Evolution of Biospheres places special importance on this interconnection. Diversity (ISSN 1424-2818) is an international and interdisciplinary journal of science concerning diversity concept and application, diversity assessment and diversity preservation. It is focused on organismic and molecular diversity. It publishes reviews, regular research papers and short notes in the regular issues. Related news and announcements are also published. As the official publication of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization, the EPPO Bulletin publishes research findings on all aspects of plant protection, but particularly those of immediate concern to government plant protection services. Ecography is a journal issued by the Nordic Ecological Society OIKOS, representing ecologists in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Ecologists from all countries are invited to publish original results on its pages.ECOGRAPHY publishes papers focused on broad spatial and temporal patterns, particularly studies of population and community ecology, macroecology, biogeography, and ecological conservation. Studies in ecological genetics and historical ecology are welcomed in the context of explaining contemporary ecological patterns. Manuscripts are expected to address general principles in ecology, though they may do so using a specific model system if this frames the problem relative to a generalised ecological issue.Papers generally are expected to be based on concise hypotheses or to relate to concise theoretical concepts based on sound natural history. Purely descriptive papers are considered only if breaking new ground and/or describing patterns seldom explored. Manuscripts merely confirming or marginally extending results of previous work are discouraged. Papers are judged by virtue of their originality, appeal to general interest, and their contribution to new developments in ecological research concerning spatial and temporal patterns. There is no bias with regard to taxon, biome, or biogeographical area.

Ecohydrology is an international journal publishing original scientific and review papers that aim to improve understanding of processes at the interface between ecology and hydrology and associated applications related to environmental management. Ecohydrology seeks to increase interdisciplinary insights by placing particular emphasis on interactions and associated feedbacks in both space and time between ecological systems and the hydrological cycle. Research contributions are solicited from disciplines focusing on the physical, ecological, biological, biogeochemical, geomorphological, drainage basin, mathematical and methodological aspects of ecohydrology. Research in both terrestrial and aquatic systems is of interest provided it explicitly links ecological systems and the hydrologic cycle; research such as aquatic ecological, channel engineering, or ecological or hydrological modelling is less appropriate for the journal unless it specifically addresses the criteria above. Manuscripts describing individual case studies are of interest in cases where broader insights are discussed beyond site- and species-specific results. The Journal also publishes research on new instrumentation and techniques if they describe truly new and significant advances in methodology that can be broadly applied to the ecohydrological understanding and management of environmental systems. Occasional special issues will be published that cover themes emergent from conferences, ecological and hydrological science societies and key research topics. Ecohydrology welcomes the submission of comment/reply on previously published papers. Such submissions should preferably be in the form of a short paper not exceeding 2000 words and relate to papers previously published in the Journal. All papers for Ecohydrology should be prepared in accordance with the notes for contributors.
