Fisheries Research

ISSN: 0165-7836eISSN: 1872-6763
This journal provides an international forum for the publication of papers in the areas of fisheries science, fishing technology, fisheries management and relevant socio-economics. The scope covers fisheries in salt, brackish and freshwater systems, and all aspects of associated ecology, environmental aspects of fisheries, and economics. Both theoretical and practical papers are acceptable, including laboratory and field experimental studies relevant to fisheries. Papers on the conservation of exploitable living resources are welcome. Review and Viewpoint articles are also published. As the specified areas inevitably impinge on and interrelate with each other, the approach of the journal is multidisciplinary, and authors are encouraged to emphasise the relevance of their own work to that of other disciplines. The journal is intended for fisheries scientists, biological oceanographers, gear technologists, economists, managers, administrators, policy makers and legislators.

Fishery Bulletin

ISSN: 0090-0656
DOAJ Logo

The quarterly Fishery Bulletin (FB) is the oldest and one of the finest fisheries journals in the world. It has been an official publication of the U.S. Government since 1881, under various titles, and is the U.S. counterpart to other highly regarded governmental fisheries science publications. The journal features both articles that reflect original research and interpretative articles for all interdisciplinary fields that bear on marine fisheries and marine mammal science.Manuscripts submitted for publication in the Fishery Bulletin undergo peer review by senior scientists within and outside the government. The NMFS Scientific Editor, a scientist affiliated with one of the NMFS Science Centers who serves for a three-year period, is responsible for conducting the peer reviews and for accepting or rejecting manuscripts.

Flavour and Fragrance Journal

ISSN: 0882-5734eISSN: 1099-1026

Flavour and Fragrance Journal publishes original research articles, reviews and special reports on all aspects of flavour and fragrance. Its high scientific standard and international character will be ensured by regional editorial support and a strict refereeing system. Emphasis will be placed on analytical aspects and the important role that analysis in its widest sense plays in the support of research and applications. As well as essential oils and other natural and naturally derived products, complementary synthetic products will be included, where appropriate. The comprehensive coverage of the journal will be reflected in the wide range of product types embraced, such as fragrances and their compositions, and the flavour, colours and odours of foodstuffs. There are many associated topics of interest, often requiring the use of interdisciplinary techniques. In addition to discussion of their end uses, coverage will include such important integral areas as biomedical sciences and legislation. The overall aim is to produce a journal of the highest quality which provides a forum for the exchange of a wide variety of information on all aspects of flavours, fragrances and related materials, and which is valued by readers and contributors alike.

Flora

ISSN: 0367-2530eISSN: 1618-0585

FLORA is the scientific botanical journal with the longest uninterrupted publication sequence (since 1818). Manuscripts will be considered for publication dealing with plant structure (morphology and anatomy), plant distribution (molecular phylogeography) and plant functional ecology (ecophysiology, population ecology and population genetics, organismic interactions, community ecology, ecosystem ecology).Manuscripts will be considered if they appeal a broad scientific readership.Manuscripts of mostly taxonomic nature or focused on floristics and vegetation science will only be considered if they exceed the pure descriptive approach and have relevance for interpreting plant morphology, distribution or ecology. Manuscripts whose content is restricted to purely systematic and nomenclature matters, to geobotanical aspects of only local interest, to pure applications in agri-, horti- or silviculture, and experimental studies dealing exclusively with investigations at the cellular and subcellular level will not be accepted. Manuscripts dealing with comparative and evolutionary aspects of morphology, anatomy and development are welcome.

Florida Entomologist

ISSN: 0015-4040
DOAJ Logo

Welcome to Florida Entomologist, the first long-published, referreed, natural science journal on the Internet. Florida Entomologist is also:the first journal to put its contents on the Internet in PDF format, the first life science journal to have all current and back issues on the Web with free access, the first entomological journal to allow authors to archive supplemental digital material with their articles, the first journal to be freely accessible on BioOneFlorida Entomologist is the official journal of the Florida Entomological Society. Volumes 1-3 were published under the name The Florida Buggist. The Florida Entomological Society still produces the traditionally printed version of Florida Entomologist, but you can also view, search, or print any article published since June 1917 by accessing online files. Web access is made possible by the Society’s electronic publication project begun in 1993 (see below for more details). We encourage you to also view the online files of the Boletín de Entomología Venezolana and Entomotropica, produced by the Sociedad Venezolana de Entomologia.FES members who subscribe to the mailing list, FLORIDAENT-L, will receive the table of contents of each issue as it is published. They will also automatically receive the Society’s Newsletter when it is posted each quarter. See Mailing Lists for details.

Fly

ISSN: 1933-6934eISSN: 1933-6942
DOAJ Logo

Fly is the first international peer-reviewed journal to focus exclusively on Drosophila research.Fly publishes broadly three general types of papers: original research, methods and technical advances and reviews and meeting reports.Topics in Drosophila research include: cell biology, development, gene regulation, chromosome dynamics, behavior, evolution, population biology, neurobiology, molecular biology and biochemistry, genomics and anything else that we might have left out or might come along. We will distinguish Fly from other journals in two important ways:First, we plan to have regular features of specific interest to the Drosophila community. For example: What's new on Flybase? How do I get my hands on all of those new stocks for doing that new cool technique? Who are the new researchers in the Drosophila field and what are they doing? What really great Drosophila papers were published recently? What's happening in those fields of Drosophila research outside my own? Is it possible to get a grant to do Drosophila research these days?Second, we want the journal to be highly interactive. We plan to develop a lively Letters to the Editor section, where issues of interest to the Drosophila community can be discussed, and where researchers can ask questions (and get answers!) about new resources and about how to obtain materials, comment on recent papers, make suggestions for new features in Fly.

Food & Function

eISSN: 2042-650X

Food & Function provides a unique venue for physicists, chemists, biochemists, nutritionists and other food scientists to publish novel, cutting-edge, original research focussing on food, its nutrients and their relation to human health and nutrition.
We welcome research describing the:
  • Physical properties and structure of food and how this relates to sensory perception and human health
  • Biochemical and physiological actions of food components
  • Interactions between foods, gut microbiota and human physiology
  • Nutritional and biological evaluation of food
  • Clinical and population studies using food or food components
  • Development of biomarkers of food intake and effects on human health
  • We also welcome systematic reviews and meta-analyses of existing studies in the literature, provided these are objective and scientifically valid
Food in this context is defined as materials of plant, animal or mineral origin, which are consumed orally (by humans) for pleasure and to sustain growth and vital processes.

Examples of research topics that are of interest to be published in Food & Function are:
  • Chemistry and physics of food components and digestion processes
  • Relationship between the physical properties/structure of food and nutrition and human health - for example, impact of food matrix or processing on nutrient release and uptake
  • Molecular properties and physiological effects of food components (nutrients, fibres, essential micronutrients, phytochemicals, bioactives, food substitutes, novel ingredients, allergens, flavours and fragrances)
  • Nutritional and health effects of food including bioavailability and metabolism assessment of food components (nutrients, micronutrients and other microconstituents)
  • Efficacy and mechanisms of food constituents in the body - including biomarkers of intakes, exposure and effects
  • Impacts of foods/food components on gut microorganisms and human physiology - For example impact of fermented foods
  • Role of nutrition and diet in human disease prevention and development
  • Cellular and molecular effects/mechanisms of food/food components
