Journal Guide

The Journal of Applied Biomechanics (JAB), formerly known as the International Journal of Sport Biomechanics, accepts articles that pertain to the applied aspects of human biomechanics in sport, exercise, and rehabilitation. Studies of importance in theory development are also considered. Research examining the effect and control of forces that act on and are produced by the human body is encouraged. Similarly, studies related to modeling and human movement simulation and to the effects of internal and external forces on body structures during skill development and rehabilitation are appropriate for JAB. Equal consideration will be given to studies involving participants of all levels of ability or disability.The Journal of Applied Biomechanics publishes original research reports, invited review papers, and “target” articles on selected current issues in the field. It also contains book reviews, technical notes, an editorial section, and other special features. Individuals are invited to submit manuscripts to any of the journal’s sections. Methodologies used in original research must meet currently accepted scientific protocol.

This journal is a cover to cover translation of the Russian journal Prikladnaya Matematika i Mekhanika, published by the Russian Academy of Sciences and reflecting all the major achievements of the Russian School of Mechanics.The journal is concerned with high-level mathematical investigations of modern physical and mechanical problems and reports current progress in this field. Special emphasis is placed on aeronautics and space science and such subjects as continuum mechanics, theory of elasticity, and mathematics of space flight guidance and control.

Purpose and Scope:

Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics presents top-level work in fluid mechanics and applied physics. Each issue contains valuable contributions on: hypersonic flow, boundary layer theory, turbulence and hydrodynamic stability, free boundary flows, plasma physics, shock waves, explosives and detonation processes, combustion theory, multiphase flows, heat and mass transfer, composite materials, thermal properties of new materials, plasticity, creep, and failure.

The Journal of Applied Security Research: Prevention and Response in Asset Protection, Terrorism and Violence (re-titled from the Journal of Security Education to reflect a more comprehensive focus) is a one-stop resource on security research, education, and training programs that will help scholars, educators, practitioners, and students meet the increasing need for security in the United States. The journal is the official journal of the Security & Crime Division of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and is affiliated with the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers and Protect New York -- a new academic organization representing faculty from a variety of disciplines and colleges and universities, including the State University of New York system. The journal presents the latest developments in theory, practice, research, and assessment with an emphasis on up-to-date methods, techniques, and technology. The Journal publishes selected articles from Sibirskii Zhurnal Industrial’noi Matematiki and Diskretnyi Analiz i Issledovanie Operatsii on mathematical research in natural sciences, technology, ecology, medicine, and economics. The publications are devoted to the qualitative theory of differential equations, mathematical simulation in mechanics, technical physics, chemistry, biology, economics, discrete mathematics, mathematical research in the mechanics of solids, mechanics of fluids and gases, mechanics of inhomogeneous media, filtering, management, and informatics theory, problems of discrete optimization and graph theory, development and analysis of algorithms, synthesis and complexity of control systems, coding and automata theory, decision analysis and theoretical scheduling problems, game theory and applications. Mathematical chemistry, biology, and medicine are also well presented in the Journal.

The Journal of Architectural Education (JAE) has been published since 1947 for the purpose of enhancing architectural scholarship in design, history, urbanism, cultural studies, technology, theory, and practice. Published on behalf of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, JAE appears twice annually in October and March, with the October issue being the first of a new volume.
